The four numbers behind every reveal.
Lake’s reveal is built from a small set of numbers, each computed a specific way from your own transaction history. Here is what each one means and how it is calculated, so a number on your dashboard is never a mystery.
Usual places
A usual place is somewhere you actually go back to, repeatedly, not just anywhere you have ever spent money. Lake only calls a place a habit once there is enough visit history to be confident about it, and it states how sure it is before it does.
Usual check
The usual check is a robust middle of your recent visits at that place, not an average. Unusually large or small visits are trimmed out before it is computed, so a single splurge does not change what “usual” means the next time you look.
Limit left
When a place matches a spending limit, limit left is what remains of that limit. A limit may be Lake-generated or user-edited. Transfers between your own accounts never count against it, and they are never counted as income either.
Visits left
Visits left divides the usual check into limit left, so you can see roughly how many more visits that room represents. The count is capped by your own rhythm at that place: Lake will not claim more visits than the days left in the month could actually produce at your usual gap between visits. When the calendar is the binding constraint, Lake says so in words instead of printing a number.
On pace
A fifth reading sits alongside these four. On pace reads your visit rhythm and what you have spent so far, and states where the month lands if that rhythm holds. Late in a month, or when there is not enough to say, it drops to “so far this month” and reports only what has already happened.

Those figures are an example of how the reveal looks, not a claim about what any specific person spends. Your own numbers come from your own transaction history once you connect an account.
